Who We Are The Pennsylvania Transit Coalition (PTC) is a statewide coalition that seeks to make citizens and state legislators more aware of the importance of public transit and the need for dedicated, predictable funding of it. This coalition is composed up of both individual and groups that include labor, business, civic, religious and environmental organization. Though these individuals and organizations disagree about many political and social issues, they all agree about the critical importance of public transit to communities across the state. Our Goals Our first task is for each individual and each member of the organizations that composes the coalition to contact their state representative and state senator to explain why mass transit is important to them and to demand that their legislator work to immediately provide reliable long-term, dedicated, funding for public transit. Because of the diversity of the groups within the coalition, state legislators will quickly understand the importance of public transit to business, labor, education, health care, the environment and social services. Our Message Our message will be communicated through a variety of channels including phones, visitations, paid and unpaid media, public outreach and large scale public actions. In all of these activities our central message will be that that the Pennsylvania Legislature MUST address the issue of reliable funding for Mass Transit NOW rather than LATER. The Pennsylvania Transit Coalition (PTC) will be coordinate its efforts with groups all across Pennsylvania to demonstrate that public transit is not just an urban issue but a state-wide issue. It is an issue that unites people rather than divides them.
